Sense of summer.
The senses of summer.
Sometimes, we focus too much on the sense of sight. I know I do. Especially since we live in the age of photography, if you're anything like me, you take pictures of absolutely everything. But summer is so much more!
Now that Memorial Day is past us, we can focus on the smells, sounds, and touches of summer.
The smell of summer for me is found in a few things. The sweet herby smell of the mowed grass, the harsh, bitter smell of the freshly overturned earth that has just been plowed, the charcoally smell of the grill.
The sounds of summer are the cheerful sounds of kids running around playing outside, the sound of my radio blaring country music, the sound of crickets at night.
The touches of summer are the tickly grass, the kiss of the sun, and the wonderful feeling of the wind whipping through my hair with the windows down.
Enjoy the sense of summer!
